ECE Assistant Professor Bongjin Kim receives a 2024 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award

The NSF CAREER Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Activities pursued by early-career faculty should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research.

Kim's project is to develop scalable Ising computers for solving computationally intensive problems in the real world. The award will address critical design challenges in realizing practical Ising computers by developing scalable and reconfigurable mixed-signal, digital, and in-memory ASIC hardware accelerators with diverse connectivities.

Kim's research team develops domain/application-specific VLSI circuits and system solutions to solve computationally intensive problems in the real world and accelerate computing and communication. Target domains and applications include, but are not limited to, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, biology, and high-energy physics.
